Haoxuan Dong is a Senior Research Fellow at the BIOR Lab since 2026. Prior to joining BIOR, he was a Research Fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the National University of Singapore from 2022 to 2025. He received his PhD degree from Southeast University in 2022. During his PhD study, he completed a joint doctoral training period at Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden.
His research interests focus on energy-efficient driving control for connected and automated vehicles, situated within the broader context of vehicle automation, connectivity, and electrification. He develops advanced control methods, leveraging optimal control, neural networks, and reinforcement learning, to enable vehicle driving decision-making, trajectory planning, and control. His work aims to enhance vehicle safety, energy efficiency, and traffic efficiency in complex transportation environments.
Upon joining the BIOR Lab, Haoxuan plans to focus on developing advanced algorithmic frameworks for large-scale vehicle-to-building and vehicle-to-home energy-efficient control. His research aims to bridge built environments and mobility systems to enable low-carbon energy management, contributing to global sustainability initiatives such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 11, 13, 8, and 3), the Paris Agreement, and the New Urban Agenda.
